celtic folk music group for weddings and functions - background folk music

About Georgia

Georgia Nettleton started violin lessons aged seven, and spent her teens playing the fiddle for morris dancers, ceilidh bands and other folk groups in her home county of Oxfordshire. She took a music degree at the University of York, where the staff were very open to her performance of traditional fiddle music and her folk-influenced composition as part of the degree course. Concurrently, she furthered her folk fiddle techniques through the Folkworks Youth Summer School and at folk festival workshops.

Still living in York, Georgia performs regularly with a variety of other musicians and as a solo fiddle player, throughout Yorkshire and beyond.

As well as performing in concert, Georgia has also often found herself booked to play folk, acoustic or celtic background music for a variety of events throughout her career, so has developed a specific repertoire catering especially for these. For most of these events she plays with a guitarist or bouzouki player, although she has done the occasional solo fiddle performance.
